Another nice recovery of an expendable base after fragging to save the colony...
141205 Tri-Color Colony Base RTN.jpg

The base of my Tri-Color left for dead (STN) after fragging the colony.
141205 BC Tri-Color Frag Close-up.jpg

The base fully recovered! Please ignore the algae issue as it is only on two rocks in this 100-gal system that appear to be leaching phosphates...LOL

141205 Second Tri-color Frag original.jpg

After fragging the colony mentioned above, I saw that I did not cut fully above the STN portion and recut the trunk. Added a few tips that broke in the process to a plug to see if they would recover.

Fully recovered! It just happens to currently exist on the second rock that has an algae issue...

Here a nice coral that I often overlook as it is near the bottom of my 65 gallon. It is a UC 'Orchid' chalice:

Growing and coloring up nicely

The 34-gallon frag tank is filling up but the 20 gallon is still empty...

Here is an awesome new frag I received from Battlecorals. The picture doesn't do it justice for it's light blue coloration you see in person!

You could say that the Sailfin Tang was "caught red handed" with that fish scale stuck to his scalpel. It didn't take long to find out who his victim was...

I thought that was what it was... i almost bought a sailfin the other day and changed my mind at the last second.

That cut looks bad... do you have plans to separate him from the rest to heal? When my pbt got sick (he was king) they all picked on him relentlessly. So I had to pull him out untill he was well.

Here are a couple picks of my tricolor. The main colony is in my 230 gal. DT and the smaller colony in a seperate frag system. Notice the color difference, with the more colorful of the two being located in the frag system. Trying to figure out what brings out better coral colors can drive you crazy... :der:

I can recall with my last system that my frag tank and my main system shared water supplies and both relied on 250W halides for light and the corals in the frag tank always looked better. Talk about frustrating! Good luck!

Great build thread too, it was a fun read.

Ya know, maybe one of the acros that are right next to it is having a bit of warfare with it. I wonder if you moved them a little more apart if it would help. It's the only thing that i can see that's different. It could also be that the dt is low on an element such as iodide or something and the frag tank isn't. Just a guess...
