Thinking of a new tank build. Has anyone used Custom Aquariums Stealth Box with H2Overflows?

Like it? Problems? How does it compare to other external overflow systems?

Thank you, Mark

Hi @Mark Dunlap
My uncle recently purchased a custom aquariums tank and has the stealth box. I helped him plumb it and get it filled. One thing I will note is its very hard to get the unit to flow quietly. After a little messing around we got it silent, but there was a lot of tweeking. Other than that it's a great system and they make really nice tanks :) He got a 65 gallon rimless

Thank you for the reply.

They do make really nice tanks. Unfortunately the shipping on the tank I'd like is about $500 to my location. I may have the tank made locally and then put their Stealth Box and H2Overflows on it.

Yeah unfortunately. We have the benefit of living about 20 minutes from their facility lol

The overflow box on the outside of the tank is good. But the inside one seem to have difficulties skimming water. I run it in my 300G I bought from them. I am pushing over 1000 gallon an hour so I had to take the to cover off or I would get a film on the water surface. But this has lead to a couple of snails appearing in my sump...

Buddy of mine has a customaquariums tank with the stealthbox overflow. He loves the tank; hates the overflow. External box is fine but those internal skim boxes on top of the pvc elbows are materially inferior in both appearance and performance to a more typical internal low profile skim box. I’d pass. Far better, in my view, to go with something like modular marine or EMS.

I just did a full maintenance and realized how stupid I was... I simply tilted the internal overflow boxes and the surface skimming capacity dramatically increased... I can’t believe I ran them without the cover for a year...

I have one of their tanks with the H2Overflow with the center concealed column. I got it because the tank is sitting in between two rooms with no "back" to the tank. Their column is a fraction of the size I would have needed with a traditional central overflow.

It took me a few minutes to figure out how to balance the overflow and return pump. It is very quiet, reliable and just needs occasional cleaning between the teeth like any overflow. A view from one end of the tank - you can see the overflow in profile, and the concealment column with the returns.
