Welcome to imagination station where no idea is a bad idea, unless it's a bad idea.
I'm going to be building 2 custom tanks. I am wondering if this idea is have for a overflow will work or if there is something I'm not taking into account.
This is just a 1min mock up on a random peice of glass i have. The tanks will be 3/4 acrylic and the black sharpie marks are there the holes will be. The cardboard overflow will also be acrylic.
Any input is greatly appreciated.
Tank will be 30Lx20Wx27T

Why the tapered sides? There is enough turbulence in a standard rectangle box to remove particles into the drain. And you gain more slots to drain from.

I just thought it would help direct water straight into the drain.
