Thought I would share a quick video of a custom riser stand I made for my Vertex skimmer. Dead simple, cheep, doesn't effect the in sump flow, collect detritus and anyone can do this. Below is a video of the finished product. Additionally I just did a write up on what you will need for the project on my 525 build thread. Hope you like it.

This has potential for DIY of the year!

Nice job and thanks for posting it for all to see!

This is terrific...love the creativity in this hobby.

Nice looks great, that's next on my list! Did you use acrylic for the base?
No, the base is just the base for the Vertex itself and I believe that it is actually PVC. The machining on it is so tight its hard to tell though. I also did the same on a couple of other skimmers, both Reef Octopus. They are most certainly acrylic and Weldon worked great for them as well. I love that it was inexpensive and produced optimal results. Its also very hard to go wrong because if you need to change the height you just replace the PVC pipe with the appropriate height pipe. I made so many small mistakes on the plumbing on my 525 that by the time I got to this I was being super careful ;)

With what you welded together the pvc parts to the skimmer plate?
