So I wanted to make a "super low boy" aquarium and wondered if I could just cut my 20 gallon long in half (it's been sitting in my garage and I couldn't even give the thing away). . .

I found a video of someone doing it online and, even though I didn't have a blow torch, I did have a glass cutter and some rubbing alcohol (90%, very flammable) and I decided to give it a try. . . I now have a broken tank hahahaha

Maybe I'll get a blow torch and try again some day. . . still kind of cool

Here is the video I found.

It sounds like you now have a perfect tank to practice drilling holes in for future overflow projects!

I actually did that!!! I had a bunch of small old tanks lying around and just went drill crazy!!!
That is literally exactly how I learned to drill tanks! It also helps you learn the difference in the flex in different thickness of glass, how hard to push when drilling, and the importance of always checking for tempered glass.

Introducing, the 5 gallon lowboy!!!

whatever you do, do not look under the rim!
