Cyano growing under sand only?

Curious why I seem to have cyano growing in my sand bed but not on the surface. Is cyano growing below the sand surface anything to be concerned about?

I am curious too. Mine has the same. I had a few patches briefly in the main tank that went away, but the stuff under the sand seems to always be there.
