Cyano or Sand Dunes?

i battle cyano for almost a year ,for me it comes and goes. I do bi weekly 13 gallon water changes on an 80 gallon, i run pellets and a skimmer with a medium bioload and i have very little nitrates . i dose zeobak twice a week when it starts to get a little bad and coral snow nightly when the problem is around which usually helps . now that my tank is a year old i really try to blast my rockwork with a powerhead before a watcher change and get that stuff that has settled in the tank . My suggestion is getting a small siphon and keep vaccuuming it up, you usually can just get the cyano without all the sand . keep your nutrients in check and you will win the battle.. your tank looks fairly new so dont get discouraged

I never see cyano in my DT which looks great (maybe too clean), but my fuge often stays bright red. So I'm doubting the "low flow" explanation for cyano, as my fuge (central part of 21g sump) would see more flow than anywhere. When the mat gets thick, I just pull it out, but it grows back. Other than being unsightly I haven't noticed any other negatives. Should I worry or just let it be?
