Cyber Monday Clams

Placed an order in one of the Cyber Monday sales, wasn't supposed to ship til Thursday (long story) but they're here today and into my QT tank. Pictures are just with an iPhone and one of the lens clips.

Deresa. Even with the orange lens can't get it to look like what it does to my eyes but these weren't terrible (one of my small urchins had to inspect the new arrival):

Maxima. Probably should have only done the Deresa but with the sale and lower shipping for a larger order it was too hard to pass up. This one is pretty close to what I see, it's maybe a bit less blue and a bit more green to my eyes but this isn't bad:

He jumped off the clam hammock twice so I just put him in the sand next to it and he hasn't moved since.

I've found that my gold maxima only likes the sand.. no rock, no clam hammock.. just the sand..

Pacific East has said that the clams in the first photo were hybridized by the farmer - they call them Dermosa. Only a DNA test could tell, but the scutes are weird and so are the eyes for Deresa. Most of these have a really bright lime rim.

Yeah, it was listed as a demosa hybrid and it does have a greener rim that I can’t capture in the pictures. Maybe the orange filter I have works better on showing the blues like the maxima than greens? Sure my only camera being a phone doesn’t help things either. Not sure it’s as green to me as it was on the site but maybe just different lighting in my tank.

I just thought it would be easier and I might get less grief if I just called it deresa. Either way I’m pretty happy with them both. They were bigger than I was expecting as well. Other than a small mix up on shipping dates which is understandable this time of year I’m quite happy with everything.
