Hi everyone I am recently going through a cycle on my new tank. This was an emergency buy to replace my old tank that started leaking and emptied the back chambers. This was setup on the 15th of this month and now I have Diatoms covering my sand. I am dosing prime and Fluval cycle and used most of my old live rock and old tank water. Everything seems OK and no loses. Or have I jumped in too quickly setting it up and risk a crash.

Did you use new sand in your new tank? Sand will contain silicates which feed the diatoms, this would be one explanation of why you have diatoms. If you used new sand, the diatoms will pass in a week or two once they exhaust the supply of silicates.

Well it looks like I'm getting small patches of cyano algae appear now 👍.
