Hi all,

I’m on day 13 of cycling my Red Sea Max C-250 tank using the RS Mature starter kit, using real reef rock and live sand.

This is my first time venturing into Reef tanks, so just want assurances or advice please.

Thanks

17th day on the site and 13th day of cycling your new tank; you aware on the right track!
Advice:
Are those rock stacks glued it otherwise secured together? If not I would recommend that you make them secure to avoid rock slides.

Those will look nice when they are covered with corals.

Welcome to day 17 on R2R!

Looking good! Welcome to R2R!

You probably turned the lights on for the picture, but I will just mention it is best to leave them off while cycling. Nothing there to utilize the light except algae. :)

@KrisReef
Yes i used epoxy to hold the rocks together and waited for 24 hours before pacing them in the tank, luckily the epoxy turned out purple so it matches the rocks.
@NY_Caveman
I've been following ReefHacks advice of leaving the lights on - https://reefhacks.com/how-to-cycle-a-tank/
You've got me thinking now.

Thanks guys

I forgot to ask you folks, the brown spots on the rocks and on the sand - are they known as Diatoms?
Thanks in advance!

Just my opinion on how I do it. You are following a specific plan, so maybe stay to it. There may be some benefit to her plan that I do not see and I have not used a lot of the methods she mentioned.
