Hi, I set up a quick qt tank for observation. I used some media from my display. The tank has no lights. I also added a live shrimp (not for cycle purposes) about a month ago. I want to add a small fish in there, is the tank cycled? Does the shrimp and live rock contribute to any nitrogen cycle?

If you added live rock into that tank, then the tank is cycled. You can always do a quick Nitrate and ammonia test to make sure it is ready to go

Wouldn't the shrimp thats been living in there for a month have been affected by it by now? I assume it's good to go. I also do not have an ammonia test handy and need to get a fish in there asap
