I want to share a tip we discovered that made our Cynarina go from sad to happy. When we purchased the beautiful Cynarina we QT'ed it for several weeks and then placed it in a prominent spot in our DT so its beauty could be appreciated - it seemed to glow from within. Over the course of 2-3 weeks its translucent flesh became filled with what looked like brown powder. We thought that maybe zooxanthallae had multiplied to protect it from too much light. (Keepers of corals try hard to figure out explanations for unhappy corals!)
Turned out to be just the opposite - way too little light! We finally installed our Apex PMK (PAR Meter Kit) and discovered the Cynarina was receiving about 25 PAR. We moved it to an area of about 130 PAR and it returned to its former glory in about 3-4 days.
Unfortunately I did not get a photo of the browned-out look but here is the Cynarina now. This photo does not do it justice.
