Hey guys,
My cynarina is usually very puffy and will contract a little bit at night time. The past few days it has been massively contracted, which is very unusual. I moved it to a lower light environment and that didn't seem to help. Is this normal behavior or is something wrong?

Params:
Ammonia, Nitrites: 0
kH: 8.5
Ca: 450ish

Usual appearance:

Tank is a Red Sea desktop peninsula. Around 22.5 gallons. Did a 10% water change last night when I started to get concerned.

Have you tried to feed it frozen mysis shrimp or brine shrimp? These cynarina loves to eat! They prefer more meat in my experience. Mine looks like yours all contracted when I forget to target feed few days in a row, but once I spoon feed it, within a day or 2 it will puff up again.

Its receding and some things to check:

Increase in temperature
Change in water flow
Elevated phosphate
Starvation- feed mysis-chopped krill or brine shrimp
Assure not getting covered wit sand

If feeding Red Sea AB- pull off

pH around 8.3. Phosphate 0.25, nitrate 0 (API test kits).

Had it around 2 months. Tank is only 3 months old. It's never had issues before and actually grew a small amount in that time.

No changes in temp or water flow.

I feed Dr. G's phytoplankton and oyster magnifique twice a week.

I did put a bunch of frags in the tank about 10 days ago, and dropped the lighting on the Red Sea ReefLED from 80% to 70%, but those are the only changes I can come up with

I gave it a little bolus of the oyster magnifique earlier today. I'll try to give it a brine shrimp now

If API, reverify the po4 levels by taking a water sample to a trusted LFS that does NOT use API tests and see what reading they come up with and even for nitrate.
Also what is salinity?

Salinity 1.026

I can always do another water change but I'm not sure if it's worth it because nothing seemed to change from the one last night.

Somehow looking much worse today with the tissue falling off the skeleton and the mouth just stuck open. It’s probably done for. I did have it mounted on the side of the reef with its mouth vertical pointing to the side instead of horizontal pointing upwards for the last six weeks. Could that have done it? Did a 20% water change and changed my carbon filter just to make sure I tried everything.

Just grow it: Have you ever added CO2 to your reef tank?
