I was given this small coral frag and the guy said its a cyphastrea but to me it seems not similar to those cyphastrea with large gap between polyps. This one’s polyps stay very close which made me doubt its not a cyphastrea. And if its truely a cyphastrea, can it touch with other cyphastrea or other encrusting corals like the sunset montis?

Looks like cyphastrea. I would put it on its own island and not let it encrust near other encrusting corals. Should be fine to grow along side other cyphastrea though.
usually its a fast and agressive growing coral.

Thanks! I do put it on an isolated rock, might get another cyphastrea and put with it so I can make a bicolor rock. Other cyphastrea that I saw people selling at my place are these and they have that gap between each polyps.

Yep def that one, could Lep and Cyph touch? I don’t think I can find another Lep here cause they all came under one commond name “meteor coral”
I wouldn't put them too close together as they are different species and eventually one will try and take over the other.
