Sorry guys, didn't realize I didn't reply to these...

What is you equipment list and any upgrades you have done. Read through but missed it if u already listed. Been thinking about down grading to this tank from my DB57 as I feel I got in over my head with what time I have available for maintaining it. Think this would be a good size tank for me.

Thanks
Not much, really. Crappy ghost skimmer and an In-Tank media tray, plus the rotating heads on the return lines.
I don't think anything has changed since the first two pages of this thread.

How are you liking the reef brite lighting option over the tank , how is the MH/LED combination treating you ? I am very interested to know, reason why is cause I am really considering the same type of lighting for my tank.
It's ok. I'd still prefer to have T5 vs the leds. Or in addition too.
Or just a Gen 4 Radion XR30 or new Mitras. ;)

Well I'm glad you guys got to see it because a week after these pics I got brown cyano (I think I've had all colors now) and now everything looks poop-tastic again.

How did you beat the Cyanobacteria? I'm struggling with it now
Chemi-Clean.

Can't say it's totally beat since it seems to eventually come back in a different form but it's the only thing that has helped.
I think I need a better way to export nutrients besides water changes and carbon/gfo in bag.
The Ghost skimmer is just as poop-tastic.

I feel you with the ghost. I have it and finally got the media reactor but the cyano came on before the reactor. Right now I'm just dosing bacteria and hoping for the best. I tried chemi clean but it only knocked it out for about a week

Black Friday deals at Marine Depot... I just scored the Aquamaxx HOB1 skimmer for 50% off... just $115.
I couldn't pass that up!

Maybe having a skimmer that actually skims something will help this tank. :)

My goal for 2017 is to really try to improve this tank. I've been much too lazy with it and I'm not just talking about things like water changes, but also with the equipment I've put on it. Getting a real skimmer was a start in the right direction.

Here's the first pic of 2017 and the last pic with the Reefbrite fixture.
New light going up tomorrow. :)
And further changes to come this year.

The new light is up and running. :)

I'll eventually post a detailed review of this light.
Right now I just need to spend some time familiarizing myself with the light itself as well as the programming software.
And I'd like to see how the coral react as well.
But initial impressions are strong. Built quality seems on par with every other GHL piece of equipment I own. In other words, top notch and built like a tank.
Getting it on my wifi network was a cake walk thanks to the video on their youtube channel.
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXOE8KkEuX_oDKMCph9GwPA
And I was able to fumble my way through the programming well enough to get decent schedule going in about 10 mins this morning.
I also got it connected to the cloud, myghl.com, so I can make programming changes there too.
Stay tuned for more...

Dennis how do you fight or keep the nuisance stuff out. Diatoms, cyano, and others?
I've read, read, and reread thread after thread but your tanks are always so clean and problems that come up are dealt with.
I'm fight cyano/spirulina.

I've had every color cyano possible in this tank. I've treated with chemiclean each time.
Lately its been cyano free.
I've also been pulling out my sand little by little. There's probably only 15% of it left.
I am also battling some kind of bryopsis or something now. Hard to see but it's on the top shelf rock in several spots.
And I just started dosing Vibrant into this tank last week! Forgot to mention that. :)
