If anyone ever needed a reason to go with real live rock and sand like The Package from TBS... this is it.
3 days in and no ammonia has showed up so I decided to check Nitrates.

5ppm!
Cycle? What cycle?! :D
Amazes me every time.

Yep, but since everything is packed and shipped in water in the morning and I picked it up at the freight office in the afternoon, not really shocking at all. ;)
What's more surprising is the little guy clung to the rock when it was pull up out of the ocean and placed into the holding container in the boat.

what test kit are you using for that nitrate test? everything looks awesome man
NYOS. :)

Dennis,

Am new to reef2reef and have thoroughly enjoyed your build thread. Have read it over 3 times to make sure I don't miss any important details.
Am contemplating my new build after 5 years being away from the hobby since I left my home country India. The details in the build makes me wanna start my build tomorrow itself.
Quite a lot of things are common in my plan and seeing them in action in your build. First and foremost - Lifereef skimmer and TBS live rocks.
These 2 are non - negotiable in my future tank .. Already have badgered Jeff with hundreds of questions and amazed how well he responds to each one..
Had plans for Apex but think I should read upon GHL Profilux .. Peaks my interest .. Wish I had the money to spend on an Elos but decided to go with a normal tank with better equipments.

However, my highest interest was in your Leica M :) .. I use a Leica too , however I never got along with digital and still use a M6 with a summicron 50 and my lovely Hasselblad 500 :)

At the end , nothing sees life like a Leica ...

Nice!!! Welcome aboard and thanks for the comments. :)
I have much respect for anyone shooting film... let alone an M6. Very cool!

soooo cool! you plan on keeping him?
Yep... if he behaves himself! ;) He's "reef safe with caution" but I'll just keep an eye on him and it will be awhile before I have much sps anyway. I do want to get a clam so again, will have to keep my eye on him.

Part II in da house! :D

I'm so overwhelmed. So much stuff!

First, more of the Walt Smith 2.1 rock...

i-9dWhHm3.jpg

And for those curious about the INSIDE of this rock... I know many people continue to say that the inside is white and not colored through and that the outer coating chips.
Well see for yourself... this is a cross section of a piece I chopped in half.
Do you see any difference between the outside and the inside?

And OMG.... what the heck am I going to do... and this isn't all of it!
One bag is in my sump and a couple more are in the kitchen sink!
Which is kind of ironic because Richard basically sent me everything but the kitchen sink. :p

Here's a few detail pics...

Peppermint Shrimp...

Bag of Sponges...

Another Bag of Sponges...

Two more Decorator Crabs...

Royal Gramma!

And there's more... Gorgonians, Sea Fans, snails, hermits, porcelain crabs...
I'll get more pics once I get everything situated!!!

Awesome!!

Did you order 'just' the package, or additional critters?

I'm anxious to get my new 75 up and running so I can get some of that TBS goodness!
