If you have nitrates at zero, keep alkalinity at 7/8. Currently I keep it in 7.2What do you keep your alkalinity at? I have been struggling to find the right spot.
I would look for the way to lower those nitrates first. Find your origin and attach them there. I like to keep the alkalinity low and stable. Stability is one of the keys to achieving a healthy and colorful aquarium. Your aquarium is young, look for the origin of nitrates and start building it from now on, keep the nitrates and phosphates at zero and then concentrate on Ca, Kh, Mg, Sr .... surely you get a great aquarium, It's only a question of time and constancyWow I've been trying to raise mine. I guess I should just leave it alone. In my big tank I have not got my nitrates down yet. It's only 4 months old and I haven't moved any coral in it yet. What should the alk be if the nitrate is 10
If you have a skimmer and rock adequate enough to your system and your biological load, you will not have problems in leaving the nitrates to zero. Good osmosis equipment, regular water changes and no overfeeding.Thank you. I had problems with my skimmer pump had to replace it so it's hasn't been running. Hopefully it will help with the nitrates. Also just added some macro to the sump.
