Glad to hear you got the noise sorted. Let the cycle begin?

Hmmm that water line is low, you might need a longer drain pipe
I'm still trying to decide what I'm gonna do about the water line. The pipe is as high as I can get it with the muffler on it. I'm thinking I may put something behind the teeth to block a few inches in order to get the water up.

That would work, make it an adjustable weir. As long as the water doesn't fall to far it shouldn't make any noise

First off great job on the plumbing daniel!! Second Im extremely jealous of the sump (whole tank for that matter). Last the water level may be tough to raise with the muffler since the "device" itself is so tall making the drain pipe shorter. You may need to ditch it and see if you can make a durso work better. Though your idea to close the weir up some may work as well.

Maybe try a durso set up. If you don't try to push to much water through them they are pretty much silent.
I think that's what I'm gonna do. If the durso doesn't fix the water level, I can still close up the weir as mentioned. I think the durso will be the easiest solution.

So the issue with the muffler was that the pump I had on it was too strong (too much turnover). I used a lower rated pump, and that seems to have fixed it.

I was going to suggest adding a gate valve on the drain pipe.

If he only has one drain that's a bad idea. That's not slowing down the pump it's still going to pump what it does. He would want to add a get valve on the return pump if the pump he was using is rated for back pressure.

Been a while since I've checked out this thread. Looking real good so far man! Every obstacle can be overcome, though they may make you scratch your head more than you like. [emoji38]

Did you fix it yet? Look like the teeth is too low. Put the black acrylic piece is good idea. Putting it in the back you might drill 2 holes and use nylon bolts ( like those sump with adjustable baffles)

Sad to say that I lost the flame angel. Of the fish in QT, he was my wildcard that I wasn't totally sure I would end up being able to keep bc of their potential to nip at clams and lps...but I was hoping he'd behave. Came home tonight and found him dead. Not sure what caused it. Here's the thread in the disease forum talking about it: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/random-flame-angel-death.276895/

RIP little dude.

Woot! I got the water level corrected! Blocking the lower part of the weir did it. Check this out!
