Hello I moved a coral per the recommendation of my fish store down lower in my tank it opened up more at first then retracted for a few days. I moved it back to where it was and now it still fully retracted and it’s looks like it’s disintegrating at the base and fusing to the rock, this is just in a few days.
Is it dead dead? Did I kill it by moving it? Do I take it out?

help please

Is it the trumpet coral (green skeleton)? It’s upside down. Should be facing up towards the light. But looks as though the polyps have already bailed.
Edit: I said trumpet, meant Duncan

I’ve killed corals before just by moving them. I presume the change in flow and lighting was the cause. Not much you can do about it other than gain experience about what each coral likes and doesn’t like.

Calcium is high everything else is normal thanks for asking
This is going to come out sounding not how I intend it but...saying that the parameters are normal is not really helpful. Someones normal may be alk at 15 and no3 and po4 at 0 which would in this case be a problem-not saying yours is. Please post the results of the question Homer asked. Also what type of lights are you running, how old is the tank, fish, size, anything else about the tank that can help us understand your system better. The more info you give to the community about your tank the better we understand your system and can recommend places to check for issues. :)

Do yourself a favor and buy some of your own test kits after you figure this out. This way anytime you have issues you don’t have to run to the LFS to have them test your water. API is entry level and will suffice for certain parameters but for the main ones calcium alk and Mag look into other kits. Even phosphates the api kit doesn’t read too accurate. Good luck

I started that way to... very soon i learned that we need to test regularly to understand what is going on, get yourself a test kit and start measuring... it is going to help you.
