dead fishes

went away to the Reefapalooza when I left my fishtank was crystal clear I was away 1 day when I got back my water was super cloudy and most of the fishes where dead but some alive, they seem like they were breathing very hard could anyone explain what could had happen? thank you

Cloudy usually says algae bloom. Did you check your parameters before and after? And how old is the system?

That's so crazy. I went to reefapalooza myself and the same thing happened to me. Literally came home to a destroyed tank. I was gone several days though. 39 out of 46 fish dead out of a 400g tank. So sorry for your loss, i know it made me want to give up the hobby. I know mine was from ich at least. I hadn't added any fish to my tank in 4 years and finally decided to add a few from a very respectable place that assured me were fully QT and ready. My own fault for not doing it myself.

I have had fish with ich for at least two weeks and still not close to death. Tangs. How did you lose so many to ich? And several days as in two three? Or a week +?

had a good time at the convention brought a lot of corals and some fishes had to do redo everything from start

I don't know, maybe was velvet? Just know the few that were left had some white spotting and breathing hard. Hard to pin point bc my last yellow tang had red blotches to but i think that was bacterial from all the dead fish and high ammonia in the tank. Was truly disgusting to come home to.
