I set up this aquarium dedicated solely for keeping small-medium Sized h. Magnifica anemones and possibly carpet anemones I n the future. Absolutely no coral

General:
Tank is a 54 gallon Aqueon corner tank I picked up for cheap on offer up. Came with stand and canopy. Tank has been establishing since January of 2020 with cured rock from a previous tank. Rock scape designed with flow in mind. Simple, two columns reaching to about 7inches below surface.
Flow:
Hydor Koralia and ice cap gyre 1k, plus return hydor dc 750gph (guarded with vinyl mesh for now. Powerheads will soon be replaced by two AI Nero 5’s with anemones guards.
lighting:
1-single ended 250 watt ushio 20k metal halide at the moment retrofitted in the canopy. Just placed order for 2-24 watt T5 HO (ATI-blue plus, coral plus bulbs) to be retrofitted inside canopy with MH.
filtration:
16 gallon sump, with reef octopus skimmer, chiller, and tunze ATO.

For some unknown reason, Magnificas are hard to come by for me in the Southern California area. I happened to come across a healthy specimen from Vietnam with purple base, yellow tips.it’s been in the tank for about 4 weeks now, placed on left column mid way. About 1 week in, moved up the top of the column (expected). So far, this specimen appears healthy and happy. It’s been fed once. I recently returned to the hobby after a 10 year hiatus.

*Was given a Small Sherman RBTA that’s was bleaching in a friends tank. It has responded quite well the last 4 weeks as well. will continue to monitor.

If anyone has any small-medium tank raised mags they want to sell, let me know!

Is your sump out the window?

No, sump is in the stand. I plumbed the chiller, and air hose for skimmer just outside window. metal halide ballast is out there as well.

Haha ok, I was wondering what was going on with the hoses going out the window.

I’m surprised you have trouble finding magnificas in S Cal, that’s where a large portion of them enter the states. Every time I take a trip out the LA I come home with a new mag.

Kinda, it’s under a canopy. Very little moisture where I live. I will build a small 2x2 box for it with ventilation and another for the chiller.
