So I spent a long 13 hours yesterday setting everything up. I ran into a few bumps but everything came out great. The plumbing came out a little different then I would have liked. The bulkheads that came with the tank were slip/barb. I thought they would be slip/slip. I ended up having to run to home depot and get barb fittings with thread to transition to pvc.

The fittings dont match the rest of the plumbing which sucks. Also the stand was way smaller then I expected so I ordered way to much PVC. It's a little hard to do work under the tank since I can't get in that small space but luckily I shouldn't be doing much maintenance down there cause it's a very simple set up and all the electrical is in a cabinet next to the tank.

I really like the dimensions of the tank and the scape looks great. I was able to get two pieces of live rock from the lfs I picked up the tank from to seed my tank. Really excited to stock the tank but patience is key.

It's a pretty small space and the way the front of the stand is designed there is just one small door opening so you cant wven really see what's going on under there. I think it came out pretty well. First time I ever plumbed a tank myself. Usually I just use the kit that comes with it and that usually is just tube and not pvc.

Need some advice on my flow. I kinda just threw my gyres and mp10 in there but not sure if there good where there at. I like the mp10 on that side of the tank but with the gyres I have them both vertical on each side. Should I have one horizontal on the back glass or opposite the mp10?

I also run a cube and for the last 12 months have never managed to get a flow I am happy with. Cube tanks are a nightmare for flow.

I guess I'll be able to figure it out once I get some coral in there to actually see the flow. Hopefully I can get flow throughout the entire tank

A little update on the cube..all is coming along "swimmingly" the tank is cycled and I was able to get all the fish i had dropped off at the lfs to hold for me from the 100g. They are all fat happy and healthy. I have a few corals in that have been doing great also

I've been keeping an eye on my alk every other day. Been holding at 8.3 but there really isnt anything in there to consume much of it.

N03 5ppm
P04 .03

I have some chaeto coming from a fellow reefer sometime next week. Couldn't find it anywhere locally. I also forgot to mention when tearing down the 100g I found a ton of magnetic particles coming out of my Neptune probe holder which had also made it's way into the cor20. Needless to say I will not be using that probe holder and that may have been part of my problem in the old build. Regardless everything is coming along great.

It is definitely a little louder than I would like..although once I turned my cor20 down it sounds better. Still..I know some people are very anal about things being too noisy.

Rock: 35lbs reef saver 10 lbs shelf rock
Return: COR 20
Skimmer: reef octopus classic 150

Dont have a list for livestock but I've had the lfs holding on to a few of my fish from my 100g in the meantime.
2 snowflake clown pair
My leopard wrasse who's been with me from the start
Half black mimic tang

The mp10 and all my plumbing is coming on tuesday and I will be starting on Wednesday and probably working on it for the 48 hours following that.

What we’re the factors to choose the Bashea SS Cube for your sump?
I am starting a similar setup now as well.
Thanks-

I used to have a bashea bio fuge on my old 55 long and at the time bashea was the only thing I could find that made a sump narrow enough to fit in ny stand. When I got it I was very impressed with the build quality and dimensions of the sump. This time around I looked at alot of cube sumps but seeing as I had a good experience before i checked out bashea again. One of the main reasons i chose this one was the skimmer section. Its huge and I love running a big skimmer. I dont run anything else except a small section for chaeto which it also has that. I currently have the reef octopus 150int and the skimmer section still has plenty of space.
I guess it all depends on what your plans will be for your filtration but I'll probably continue to buy bashea even for future builds

Ok so here's the scoop new tank with 10+ lbs of live rock sps kicking but I have aces in as well looking hairy than chewbacca. I know it's a brand new system but can I beat the odds!?
