Hello,

Any recommendations on a light that won’t break the bank but will be sufficient to grow corals in a 60g cube?

Are knock off lights worth looking into?

There are lots of good quality lower budget lights, Nicrew and Popbloom are 2 that I currently use. Smatfarm and Vivarspectra are other options. There are others but I can't think of them all, others will have comments. Personally I would put a 200 watt nicrew on that tank if it were me. Good luck.

IMO I would also go with a 200w nicrew, I use them and they’re great budget lights and my coral grow very nicely under them

Perfect match, a Noopsyche V4 Pro IV. The whole kit is $139 and it has proven itself to be up there with the big brands for output.

Yes, some delivery issues mainly but the light certainly punches above its price tag I understand from what ive read so bought one. Far from setup, fishless cycle, and light not even played with yet but just switched it on for a pic with about 5% power. Tank is 24" x 24" × 24", no spill and covers the area well I think.

Super helpful info. Many thanks. Question about Nicrew and Noopsyche - I understand they’ll make coral grow but what about the visual appeal? Do they minimize shadows? Can the spectrum be adjusted for less blue and more sunlight-type coloration. Very curious.

I have limited experience with noopsyche but I can tell you that nicrew even with just the presets has a nice variety of spectrums ranging from deep blues to full daylight, as far as shadows they're great at minimizing them but in my experience both are very similar in these traits but to me at least nicrew pulls slightly ahead with their gen 2 series lights

Aipai A7 or A8 are decent enough. You might wanna look into jebao as well.

Back in the day (like pre-2018) this would be a job for a 16" "upgraded" black box light but there's so much new stuff out there now 😅
