Have issues with deltec 600i dc protein skimmer on my tank.

Deltec recommend water height 15cm- 25cm

59gal tank
Water depth sump 19cm or around 7.5 inches.
This is where the skimmer height base to water line is 7.5inch. Or around 19cm.

Now levels on pump 1-10, I'm set at 5 speed
Level marker on tube on minimum- maximum half way.

I'm only getting wet skim or it randomly overflows.
Low stock tank 4 fish, Medium stocked LPS
Nitrates under 1ppm

Anyone any help.
Cleaned pump and airline

Any help

Is the skimmer in the correct height

Im not familiar with that brand Skimmer but Did you add anything to your water, sometime different additives can over flow the skimmer. You can also cut to size a plastic grid and put the skimmer on top of it to raise the skimmer. Seems like to much air in there...put to very low setting try pulling it out ( up ) while running ( not all the way out) Just for a second and put it back in. I have done that before and the Skimmer went back to normal hope this helps

I know this is old.. but in case anyone else has this issue.
I'm pretty confident Its not creating foam/dry skim because your nutrients are too low.
You said 1 pmm nitrate , which is not good. 5 is the lowest i would want mine. I keep mine at 10-15. Wwc swears by 15-25 and brs says 10 usually. As for phos.. under 0.1 but always at least 0.01
So tween .02 and .08 is best. Try keeping it off for 2 days... then try it. If it works better. only run it for 2 -4 hours a day. Test 3 days later. Increase or decrease time as needed.

I have the 600i and it likes very shallow water. Just FYI. Keep raising the skimmer up until you hit the sweet spot. I think mine is in like 6” of water. I know it’s below normal.

Tried raising makes no difference, thanks though.
It will make a difference when you raise it. With less water in the skimmer body you can drive the skimmer harder. You can raise it so high that there will be no foam in the neck. So it does work, but maybe you didn’t go high enough.

Def below norm for most skimmers... but still at the bottom of their recommended water level for that model. 5.9" - 9.8.
i think it has To do with the design which allows for less turbulence in the base and it's overall height to be shorter.
Mines in 7.5" now as im doubling up on skimmers during chemiclean treatment.
