some of you guys are doing killer 3d drawings ect what programs are you using and how much are they or where can i get them... an engineer from work is willing to run the software for me and design the space but he doesn't know what to get as he uses solid works for us here at the shop making automotive parts.

thanks guys!

I am not sure what is "free" anymore - I used to use Autocad and inventor but have moved to Fusion 360 for most things.

I have used dozens of 2d and 3d CAD, engineering, drafting, design and rendering pieces of software over the last 4 decades. I find sketchup to be an absolutely horrid piece of software, the worst interface and workflow out of anything that I have ever used... and I have gone back and tried it at least once a year for maybe a decade!

Nothing is intuitive and the tools don't really resemble any toolset in any other 2d or 3d package. Sure you can learn it, but to me it is not worth the hassle.

Most decent packages have free trials. I would steer you toward something more geared to home/interior design.
