@4FordFamily
I want to say sailfin based on tail. But not an expert on tangs in the slightest.

From my understanding adult Z.veliferum have white or yellow tails with greyish lines.
Z. Desjardini have dark tails and lighter colored dots.

I believe the Red Sea or Desjardini tang will have the spots all over to include that tail fin....at least mine does.

Good looking fish but does appear to have hlle, what is his diet. Sailfin's needs a mature tank with algae's for constant grazing. I would start giving him live macro algae like caulerpa(mine like the fern type) and gracillaria. Live macro algae will reverse that easily.

Wow, hes a hybrid? That's awesome.
About the hlle guys, that's how I bought him. It was much worse a month ago. He eats extremely good, probably 2 sheets of nori a day. Blood worms, clam, squid, mysis, brine, krill, table shrimp, the whole nine. Also gets live macroalgae too. He eating good

I concur. Definite desjardini and standard sailfin identifiers this appears to be a hybrid. Sometimes, desjardiji get yellow tails (much like gem come in both flavors) but this is different, IMO.

I’ve never heard of or seen any other hybrids, however. So I’m pretty confused by it.

HLLE can be hard to battle with some sailfin. Soak foods in selcon, zoe, and/or vita chem. Feed a varied diet and lots of nori.

He seems to be healing really well. I've only had him a month. I was on vacation in Florida and stopped by this LFS in ocala. He said 10 bucks paid for him, went and bough a bucket and bubbler and picked him up on my way home to NC! He has so much personality.
His wound was pretty deep when I got him. It has healed up to skin level now, and its coloring up, but the skin is taking a bit longer to form.

How common is this specific hybrid?
It’s not uncommon, you can find one if you look hard enough at nearly any given time. That said, it’s not common, either. They’re not cheap, however.

But the sailfin hybrid isnt as common? You said you've never seen one before?
