I currently have a custom sump from Advanced Acrylics under my innovative marine 150. I’m starting to wish I had space for a refugium.

Advanced Acrylics sells a separate refugium add on that I could purchase to match my sump, but I’m not certain what the best way to plumb it in would be.

I’m thinking I could size it to fit where my ATO container currently is sitting.

I have a simular question. I have a Innovative Marine EXT 100. It has three drain lines. 1Main and 2Emergency.
I have been thinking one of a few ways to plumb, one being to tee off the main drain taking to both the main sump and directly to the refugium with line to refugium having ball valve to control flow to refugium. Or, use one of the emergency drain lines to go directly to refugium again with ball valve to control flow to refugium. Or a pump in return champer of sump to refugium with ball valve to control flow to refugium. I am new to refugiums and looking for any and all suggestions.

I am getting customized sump and Refugium from Life Reef. Have been working with Jeff for years prior to leaving the hobby. This is my first time adding a refugium, but in my reading, it doesn't take a very big refugium to be bennificial.

I was thinking on using one of the Emergency drains to go directly into the refugium. But it has been suggested to either T off the return line to tank controlling the flow to refugium with a ball or gate valve or a small pump from the last chamber of sump to feed refugium, that way I wont get the detritus from the tank. It will be clean mechanically filtered water feeding the refugium and cut down on house cleaning needed. I think I am going to get an additional pump to feed the refugium.
