Hello all I have a question about my Devil's Hand.....for some reason it is not opening. I recently changed from compact fluroscenst to LED and that is when it all started.

The LED's are turned way down so they can acclimate to the new light.

Water Parameters

Salinity: 1.024
Nitrates: 0
Nitrates: 0
DKH: 8
Mag: 1150-1200
Calcium: 440
Ammonia: 0
Phosphates: 0.20
PH: 8.2
Temp: 77-81*F

Here a few pic's of it opening before the light change and after the light change...there are also some of my Frogspawn...Thanks for any info and help.

Crap....my question is what could cause it to not open?? It was fine before the light change it was even open while I was putting the hood on (BC29). When I turned the LED's on it was open and stayed open for a while then closed up....that was Sunday evening. Am I rushing it? The frogspawn opened right up and has been doing fine since...Is it getting too much light or not enough?? Thanks for any input.

Probably adjusting to the light. As long as there isn't any damage/predatory animals on it it should open within a week. They can go upwards of a month of not opening then randomly open up nice and big. Just give it some time and make sure there isn't anything bad on it.

It probably needs more flow. They shed their skin to help clean unwanted algae and ect off their bodies.

Don't think it's a flow issue. It was fine before the light change. And no shedding yet.

https://www.reef2reef.com/forums/ne...0573-question-about-my-devils-hand-coral.html The link I started .

I have had the same problem ...it seems they will get moody and close up sometimes . I moved mine into a little more current and did a small water change . It had been closed for more than six days and now it is back to normal , this is about the 3rd time it has done it in the few months I have owned it .
