Things I learned the hard way;
* LARGER IS BETTER. All diamond painting projects use a standard size of rhinestones called Drills. These drills are equivalent to 10 pixels per inch.Designs look best on a large canvas.Many of the fine details in the illustration will be lost.That said, small projects are sold as bargains and are great for children.
* Read reviews and look for ones that include photographs.There are very few companies that will show you what a finished kit actually looks like.Most photos are there to "get you through the door".
*Most kits will ship from overseas.Expect to be waiting over a month for your order if this applies.
* Your kit may arrive a tad smashed.Carefully unroll the canvas upon receipt and relax the creases with a rolling pin.Then place it underneath a heavy stack of books for a good week.This will make it nice and flat.This is a ideal way to store a stash of canvases.
* A Full Drill or Fully Drilled means that the entire surface will be covered in rhinestones. A Partial Drill is when a image has drills placed in sections. A kit sold as a Special Drill usually has unique shapes. For example, tear drops or larger round beads.
A good Partial Drill will have the beads thoughtfully placed throughout the image.
Sometimes the drills are only placed in a small area of the image.This makes it look broken up in my opinion.

* You can purchase blank canvas for Diamond painting.The drills are sold by colors that are coded in the same way as DMC embroidery floss.Super Cool!
* Black or colored electrical tape can be used to cover up the text on the edges of the canvas before framing.
