Diamond Goby Passed today.

:cry:My wife just called and told me that the Diamond Goby was being eaten by the hermits. He was my favorite fish and I'm bummed. Not sure what could have happened. I have a square side, coral beauty angle, foxface, PJ's, clown fish and one blue damsel. The goby had been in the tank a week, sifting sand all day long. Even eating flake food. Could the damsel have gotten to him? Or the hermits?

Ughh sorry to hear that :/. I actually experienced this a few weeks back. I had a hermit crab in my tank as well n it was getting pretty big. It was in the tank at least a month before I added my new banggai Cardinal fish. Within a few days I went to look in my tank one night and I found my poor Cardinal in my hermits mouth. By the time I ran to the back of the tank (it's inside the wall) to try to remove it from the crabs mouth, the cardinal was dead. I was so ****** and scared that it would happen to my other small damsels so I took the crab out and now I only get the red legged crabs since they are not so big.

I didn't know the hermits will go after a fish. My hermits are pretty big though.

I didn't knw either but I did ask the place where I usually purchase my fish and they told me they do not usually do that but I would never risk putting another one in my tank.

OK, Everything I just read about the blue legged hermits states its ok for reefs. So something else happened to the goby. Now I'm leaning towards the Damsel.

And of course the damsel just does not want to go into the fish trap.

Really the damsel?! Hmm interesting. Well if you find out anything else def keep me posted. As for me I caught my crab red handed with my fish in his mouth unfortunately. So what did your wife see exactly?

Just the hermits eating the carcass. Of course that's what they should do.
