I’ve had a diamond watchman goby for almost a year now and he has kept the sand bed (somewhere in between 3 and 4 inches) very clean. I’ve heard about a lot of them die of starvation when they eat all of the nutrients out of the sand, so I was wondering if the nutrients are naturally replenishing and/or if I need to make sure he’s always eating the frozen brine and Mysis I feed the rest of my fish. He always swims up and eats whatever I put in the tank but I’m afraid if the sand bed depletes he will starve.

I think the sandbed replenishes with pods and such. I’ve had mine coming up on 2 years and eats what ever I put in like a pig. I’m pretty sure if I threw a chicken nugget in it would eat it. I couldn’t imagine it would ever starve.
