Did anyone have trouble managing nitrates before having corals?

Definitely considering carbon dosing again.
My opinion:

I like to carbon dose even though i require periodic n03/p04 dosing, my system is low in nutrients, carbon dosing is a good thing to start super slow, I like tropic marins carbon products they have a few good videos by Lou on the differences in their carbon sources, some with nitrates and phosphates included. I also like to use brightwells n03/p04 recommended values of 3ppm n03 and .02ppm p04 .
