I am away on vacation and obviously away from my tank (265 with 40 gal sump). I was using my apex to dose Coral Essentials CVE+. I usually dose 20 mos daily. When I started the bonus, the Apex went offline and I couldn’t stop the dosing. I’m guessing about 2.1 liters went into the tank by the time that the Apex came back on line. I have a friend coming to do a 30% water change in about 5 hrs. Has anyone had this happen? Are my fish and corals doomed?

Welcome to Reef2Reef

Sorry to hear!

There are too many variables to consider here, you’re going to need to rely on what your friend sees when they get there. Maybe they could send you a video that you could then post here?

I will say that in cases of acute poisoning, where the water quality is dangerous to fish and/or corals, a simple 30% water change won’t be sufficient. For example, if something in the water is at twice the lethal limit, you’d need to do a 50% water change just to get to the lethal limit. Also, most issues with toxic compounds in the water have a time value as well as a concentration - something not lethal in 24 hours could become lethal after 48 hours for example.
