This skimmer is kinda large for this sump. Wondering if its to big?? Any thoughts?
It fits but just barley and only gives me a 9" space for a fuge.

Sounds like you need to skip the fuge in that sump and go for a wonderful Macro display refugium. You can use the space in the sump for extra liverock or a time out spot;Smuggrin

I was wondering about that. Since I have the fleece roller do I really need the skimmer? I can add a bunch of rock in the fug section.

Personally, I would keep the skimmer. Mainly because they do two different jobs. I wouldn't remove a filtration tool from my bag of tricks. Doesn't mean you have to run the skimmer 24/7 though :)

Maybe I'll look for a smaller one. My wife was complaining this one was red anyway :p

To Use or Not to use?? Having issues deciding what to do...o_Oo_Oo_O
This thing seems to big for this sump!
If I leave it on the left I get just over 8" on the fuge side.
I was thinking of doing this.. drilling a hole through the divider and putting pump on fuge side which gives me about 11" in the fuge section but with a pump in the bottom

Hint: Hes on the bent limb closest to the front. I cant get a better pic of him cause he goes away if I open the door:(
We could all use one of these security systems.

Pretty sure I suggested this a while ago, but no one wants to listen to me:rolleyes::rolleyes: ;Shifty ;Shifty
You did, I just couldn't get my head wrapped around modifying the new sump..

We could all use one of these security systems.
I love this time of year. They must have a nest nearby because I see the male and female hunting around a lot from late Dec through March. Sometimes we get to see the fledglings for a bit in late spring. They are camera shy though. I could sit on my back porch and watch them for an hour, the min I decide to go get my camera they fly off:(

yes, you did beat me to it josh...;)
still waiting on pic's...:)
I went down and stared at it for a bit, got frustrated and walked away for an hour. went back and stared some more and finally decided to pull the smaller new skimmer from the other sump and use it instead. After spending over 1K on the new sump, I am just not ready to start modifying yet. Maybe after I've had it a while :p:p

@JoshH @fishguy242 @Mjl714 thank you all for your ideas and support!!!!

This is what I will go with for now. After more research I'm told with the fleece rollers installed I will need about half the size skimmer I would without so I think this will work fine and gives me about 12" of Fuge space.
