Difference Between Male and Female Firefish?

Around two months ago I got a mated pair of firefish (Nemateleotris magnifica) and I noticed that one of the fish has a thicker and shorter dorsal fin than the other. I was wondering whether this was a gender difference. If it isn't, are there any other ways to tell the difference between male and female firefish?
