difficulty sourcing antibiotics

Why does it seem nearly impossible to source amoxicillin or ciprofloxacin for an aquarium? I have contacted many vets clinics, and basically if you dont have a cat or a dog, they simply wont even talk to you. I even had one ask me if I could bring in the affected torch to be seen.... uh... what? Even if I was dumb enough to do that, that would surely spell disaster for a euphyllia with BJD. This may just be me venting, but personally think that this is an entire hobby that could use reasonable access to medications like that, and we are forced to spend 10 times the amount for a quarter of the product. WILD.

I definitely appreciate the info, I will probably order from here. However, if you have a prescription from a vet, the same exact pills would be 30 cents each. We should be able to have access to the same pricing.

You may well be informed enough to use antibiotics on reef inhabitants. Most are not qualified to diagnose and,

I realized this after spending $100 on pills I don’t even know how to use.

My torch coral has been looking off for a few days. I want to dip it, but I don’t understand why or how antibiotics would help—I'm not even sure it's bacterial. LOL. Maybe its just irritated while I splits into a couple more heads???

Wishing I hadn’t bought those pills, but for now, I’ve decided to just wait and see, even if it means not using them and letting that torch be sacrificed.

Just send your wife/mother/daughter or any other women to the family doctor and let her say that she is traveling abroad and it was recommended to her to have Ciprodex with her for an emergency.

That is exactly the way I got mine, and funnily enough - it wasn’t even a made up story in my case. My mother was about to travel and really was advised to have these pills with her for an emergency by the traveling company. I simply happened to look for those exact pills, in the exact same time that it happened.

I perused a few or your threads. How did the Dallas trip pan out with respect to LFS.

I saw several threads on getting ICP test results, including tin.

Consider getting DOC checked by the same people.

Also consider, sending off to AquaBiomics to categorize your bacteria/pathogen populations.

I had a blast in Dallas, visiting six (?) fish stores and buying from 3-4. A club member is heading to RAP there next month. I wasn’t ready for the tolls, though! Great trip—now I have too many corals and not enough space.

I'm due for another ICP test - I think it's been about a year since I did one.

Now 5 years later, I assure you, DOC test for reef tanks are available and are RELAVANT.
