Hey folks, I’m a newbie hoping I could get a little help with identifying some brown algae (or Dinos) in my reef tank. There are bubbles but not the typical bubbles on a string that I’ve seen from other posts. The bubbles are limited to the rock but there is also a light dusting of brown on the sand bed. The snails and hermits also don’t seem to want anything to do with it so I’ll be manually removing during this weeks water change.

The tank itself is a little over 2 months old and admittedly, I’ve been testing all of the major parameters aside from phosphates. That being said, I think it’s been high for most of the tanks life to this point. Picking up a test kit tomorrow to confirm.

All livestock including inverts are doing well other than some lethargy of a few snails for about a week and a half.

As for treatment of it is believed to be Dino’s, I’ve picked up a bottle of Dino X. Not sure how I feel about using it right away as many reefers seem to prefer a more holistic approach to knocking it out.

Let me know your thoughts and I appreciate it if you took the time to read through my rambling!

Looks like diatoms to me. I have dinos and I find their colour to be richer or darker than diatoms. Considering the age of your tank seems like a typical timeline.
