Hey Everyone,

Ive had my tank running for about a couple years now, however the last few months I’ve been putting tlc added acro Frags and watching them start to encrust.
As of late I’ve noticed this long brown colored algae that’s been getting caught on frags and just growing quickly. I did a water change it seemed like the algae was gone, come back today the tanks covered again.

Im not really familiar with Dinos but I’ve heard it’s a common issue nowadays so I tested both nitrates and phosphates

Hannah ULR phosphate checker gave me a 0.05 reading

Hannah Nitrate Hr read 0.0 flat twice

Ive heard that Dino’s occur when your tank is running close to zero nutrients, but wanted to confirm what everyone thinks and any recommendations on what I can do! I would like to avoid chemical additives if possible.
Attached are some bad quality photos however I hope they help.
Thank You!

I am not an expert at all, but looks like it probably is. Does it produce any mucus and bubbles? Have a look at this document by @taricha and see what you think. You don't need a microscope - there are also text descriptions and links to pictures.

There are shades of green, brown, red in that pic. It will be a mix of multiple photosynthetic nuisance organisms. Cyano and Dinos will probably be in the mix.
