Hey guys,
A month ago I set up a 160G/40G sump tank with rock I’d had cycling in bins for about 4 weeks before that. After joining the reef2reef community I realized I should also have a quarantine tank and seeded a 20G tank from the main display tank.
Right now there are no animals larger than copepods in either (I used Life Rock so not even sure there’d be anything in there). I do have a refugium started with clean cheato and the Algaebarn starter kit.
Given I’ll likely QT the first two fish 4 weeks or longer, the main tank will remain empty. Tests show zero ammonia, nitrite and negligible nitrates. Is there anything I should add to the tank while the fish are in quarantine? Could the nitrogen cycle stall as there’s no ammonia being added to the tank?
