When it comes to this hobby there are many paths to the same destination. I seem to keep running into folks who can't seem to disagree without assuming they're being somehow provoked and then they get personal. I just don't get. It leaves a very sour taste.

Agreed and sadly when you deal with people that's what you get.

I've begun approaching everything in a submissive posture... careful to always say "it's my opinion" or "it's been my experience" but inevitably I'm told I'm wrong in a not so friendly way. I understand this is normal in a public forum but I'm not required to like it. Generally aggression is a perceived not overt action. You'll see taunting everywhere if that's what you're looking for. That's all ill say on this subject

Some people feel as if its their job to disagree with others because their answer is right. I have had it happen to me and I tend to just ignore it because they just dont understand how to have an educated discussion or debate about anything. Unfortunately its even in our hobby!

That's one of the disadvantages of talking on the computer. You can't hear the others tone of voice. I'm sure if we could, we would realize the majority of comments are not meant to be condescending. That's the way I choose to look at it anyway. When I'm not sure of their tone, I will just back away. Please don't let others get under your skin because the issue being discussed isn't worth the stress on your body. Besides, you have baby clowns to attend to! lol

At the end of the day, a person need to remember this is only a hobby. No need to get stressed out, this is why we are in this hobby, to enjoy and learn from our experience, does it really matter what one says. Like what my daughter always say " Chill Dad, everything will be okay"

Thanks so much everybody!! I feel much better... this is why I even bother posting a complaint like this. I appreciate the good energy. From the mouth of babes... "Chill dad everything will be okay". Good advice
Connie I hope baby clowns are in my future! I'll try hard not to pass on all my own fears and unrealized dreams onto the next generation of clowns. If politics have taught me anything it's that clowns are our future!!
Thanks again everybody!!
Except for you Ritter... I'm wrong?!?! Your mothers wrong!! Lol

+1, things get taken the wrong way.. hard to gauge tone/attitude/sarcasm/etc.. remember it's just an internet forum ;)

Some people have a lot of pride issues also. The whole, i have done this X many years.. How can you tell me what to do or how to do it. I try to take the "this is what worked for me in my tank" approach as chatting on the forms we cant read body language and facial expressions.

Yeah I've noticed this as well and take that same submissive approach. It's funny that reefers are a lot like clownfish lol.
