Disapearing fish?

I have a 50 litre (13 gallon) tank with 2 lone bangaii cardinal fish in it. I woke up today to find one missing? I looked around the tank and inside the for a body (dead or alive) but found nothing. The tank has a lid on it 24/7 so its like this fish has disapeared? Has anyone had a similar experience and/or any ideas of what could have happend?

Oh yea, I’ve had some go missing long enough that one day I’ll noticed a condensed ball of muk stuck in the rock rock work or float up to the filter. Not even recognizable after the clean up crew have had their fill. Sometimes when fish start to die they’ll wedge themselves between the rocks to rest from the current. Sadly by then it’s normally too late to save them.

Your clean up crew/micro-biome took care of it before you noticed.

Which is actually a good thing that it is not rotting in your tank, potentially causing a big ammonia spike taking out your other fish

I think either the body was blown under a rock, or as mentioned above it knew it was going to die and wedged itself into a rock. If you have a mature tank then the cuc could have cleaned it up but if the tank is new then I would doubt it.
