When you buy fish from Diver's Den in a trio or more, does this mean the fish have been living together and are fine. Or is it a trio or more of random fish that are the same species?

Trio means they are homies. The only guarantee that something is paired is if they are a breeding pair but for many fish it is pretty much guaranteed they will pair, especially any fish that isn't hermaphroditic.

Yeah anthias will chill together. They are hermaphroditic but they school naturally so they settle their higharchy out just fine.
