Diy ato reservoir ideas?

I didn't find any hits in my search here - does anyone have a good and cheap solution for a ~10gal ato reservoir? I like the readsea, and especially it's footprint, I am just having a hard time justifying $100 for a plastic container. Though I will probably end up just getting it in the end lol

I have a pretty big space left in my stand (eshopps mariner 100) but it's more tall than wide. I've used storage bins before but never for a long term solution.

I used one of these until I purchased a sump with a built in ATO reservoir. I ran the tubing and the electrical cord through the small hole where the spigot goes, and filled through the large opening.

How are those full or half full? Seem stable and won’t bust? Guessing food grade safe or whatever is needed for water?

I've had them filled to the brim for a 3-week vacation before, no issues. I generally fill them about 2/3 because they bow pretty significantly when full. Some bracing or a frame would solve that if you need them 100% full often. and yes, Polyethylene construction so inert/reef safe

I use a 5 gallon hedpack for $20 off Amazon. I see now they have a 15g cylinder for $64 that I might look into.

the only thing I don't like about these types of containers is they're annoying to refill. I like the trash cans because I can easily dump 5 gal buckets in. Depends on your setup, I guess.

probably just under 10g while full and a pump inside for $45

I had a ton of these 4 gallon buckets from other projects. Now two of them serve as my ATO reservoirs. The square form factor is a plus for putting other things in the sump.
