Despite all the haters the current orbit LEDs are a really decent little budget controllable LED with slim form and are especially well suited for nano tanks that you don't want to spend a ton of money on or have a ton of light spill from.

I however didn't like the rim mount option so I set out to build a custom bracket system that didn't require hanging the light from anything, setting the light on the rim, nor building a canopy.

Here's what I came up with for a tank mount bracket.

And it integrates great with this hanging bracket.

Build process.
Mock and cutting on my circular saw. I'd STRONGLY suggest using a fresh/sharp blade 200 tooth count or higher. The blade I used was a bit old and rusty and had been used well past its life which resulted in some chipping and uneven cutting of the acrylic.

First step was to remove the stock bracket.

After that lots of mock-up check and rechecking for measurements and finally cutting despite the setbacks with a dull blade the cuts came out fairly clean and to the dimensions I was hoping for.
