I have taken an broken hob filter and took a pump of another filter but the only way I attached them was by a hot glue gun was the okay to use? will it effect the water chemistry? im unsure if a hot glue guns glue is toxic for a reef im in need of answers because I have sitting and waiting to be used last thing I want to do is have a tank crash because of a simple diy fix!

Hot glue is not toxic but it may not hold up with water flow. Id go with a HOB skimmer IMO. Or aquarium safe epoxy make sure you cure it atleast 24 hours tho.
