Do you have a hard to view sump, a dark colored water reservoir, or anything that you would like to quickly gauge volume without opening the lid or guessing?

This is extremely easy!!

There are 2 ways you can gauge volume.
1) actual volume
2) volume reached at desired time (it takes 2 hours to fill X amount.

On my application I am using time since it is an RO reservoir and I need to know how long to keep the water on before it floods! It is also pretty high up so looking in it is a pain.

Items:
Container
Rigid air line
1/4 inch quick connect bulkhead
Marker
Volume measuring device (1gallon jug or 5gallon bucket) or timer if using time gauge.
Step 1) drill hole for 1/4 inch quick connect bulkhead as low as structurally possible.
Step 2) insert tube into fitting and point straight up
Step 3) pour in increments of water and observe the tube. Mark increments as you fill.
Step 4) enjoy the ease of gauging depths of various containers.

If using this on a sump you can make the tube L shaped and drill a hole in the bottom of your stand. Glue or fasten the vertical part so it is easy to view.

Always make the gauge taller than the container or water will shoot out if it when full
