DIY overflow kit

I'm purchasing a new tank(new to me at least). it doesn't have the overflow kits with them so im going with 2 diy overflow kits. I plan on the bulk heads which will be 2 1 inch bulk heads a pvc pipe and then a expansion coupler. similar to the picture. since this is a marineland dual overflow. I will do a overflow myself.. the only thing I think i will do differently then the picture will be a using a pvc fitting cap.
