Has anyone had any success refurbing pump heads? I have a Reefbot which has become more and more inaccurate. It appears that the pump heads need replacing according to support. The pumps are Kamoer and they look like the same ones as the F4 Pro doser. The spares are listed here:

These may need replacing every 6 months and will cost around £125 delivered to the UK for all 4 in the Reefbot as they are $30 each from Reef Kinetics. This a lot of money!

It's my understanding that it's the pipe that takes most of the wear and this makes complete sense. The pipe is going to be extremely cheap and easy to replace. Do the rollers also wear? Does anyone have any more info on this as a possible DIY refurb?

Not familiar with the reefbot's setup, but any perii pump is pretty much the same. I would personally just try the tubing first. The rollers can wear out, get flat spotted, etc. But typically the tubing wears out before the rollers do.

Thanks for the info. Going to take one apart tomorrow to check the condition of the rollers and the tubing size.

Japtastic,

I know that you posted this almost a year ago, but I was wondering if you managed to resolve this issue without having to buy new pumps?

I am trying to automate as much of my tank as I can, I have managed to get permission from my wife to get a Reefbot, however whilst doing my research I came across the fact that you need to replace the pumps every 6 months which led me to this post.

It is quite steep at a £1000 for the unit, but if I then would have to spend £250 a year changing the pumps it then becomes completely unviable.

DO YOU THINK TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCEMENTS ARE MORE HELPFUL OR HURTFUL TO REEFING?
