I would start on how Im getting my rocks. Im colleccting diff size and shapes from seashores or diving in shallow waters. Sadly dynamite fishing is rampant in our area, so many dead sps can be seen on craters made by dynamite blasts.. I started to collect and build rockscapes for personal use until reefer friends asked me to make one for them too..

Once i have the shapes and sizes available, i simply select which to use. Binding the rocks together is just a straightforward technique. Drilling holes to flat rocks and tying it together, then later putting cement on the joints.

in order for the coraline to be preserved while building the rockscape, I use a quick dry cement that hardens within 5 minutes then later place it to my pool and holding tanks :p

I use the available holes on the rocks itself to tie then bind it with cement.. Attached is one of the first tank I have done doing this simple technique..

Why don't you try building rocks as posted in the other thread rather then getting stuff from the ocean? Conservation starts right there, when you are responsible. Appreciate you to take things positively. We are facing same situation of poaching, natural reefs are devastated. It's sad to see mother nature in distress.

Keeping the coraline alive is tedious on my part, until I started collecting dead rocks which I can build and use regular cement and let it dry outside my pool ;)
Attached is the actual rocks i made and how it looked from my clients' tank..

That is why I switched to using dead rocks caused by dynamite blasts and on the seashores. Im a diver and a reefer, with contradicting interest but I tried to be responsible enough on both hobby's perspective . I do coral fragging and planting in the wild by cutting a little piece and transfering it to where the dead corals are. Collecting crown of thorns, untumbling corals to make it face upwards again, and inviting reefers to let me bring back to the reefs peices of their grown corals from their tank.. Unless I stop being a reefer then people might think im not putting more distress to mother nature..Just like you do :)

@Delirium
I apologize, you took it quiet personally. Good to know your contribution towards reef rehabilitation and i appreciate it. Its not about your rockworks that i think of you as putting distress. In general what things goes around in Southern Asian countries, including mine. We do our fair share of whatever we can to stop the ongoing monkey business. I refrained from buying whatever comes without an invoice and CITES. I think most of the people from these regions ain't got no love towards mother nature "Commercialized wildlife exploitation". Not just the ocean, every living creature. Your English too fly bebot! :p

Sharing my rockworks.. Fun and easy to do but you need to have many shapes and sizes of rocks to play around ;)
