I have a new tank and many of the Parts I will need.
I am working on a stand for this “75 gallon” tank with a 40 breeder sump. The sump is a bit larger than needed due to plans of a future addition to the system and I want a good sized refugium.
Here is the stand in various states of construction. This is a @RocketEngineer based design (thanks for all the knowledge you have shared over the years) modified in a few ways to suit some of my desires, more on this later. I am currently working on skinning the thing then to seal with epoxy and painting. Door will go on after setting up the tank, they get in the way and will add weight and this thing is getting heavy quickly.

“What is this wanker on about? He has a 48” tank and a 96” stand…” well, I hear you and there are plans for a 60g cube or something to go on the other half of the stand but for now it will look a bit weird, I told the wife she can put a plant on it for now as if she doesn't have enough plants already… there are 13 plants just in the living room…
Back to the important stuff. See below for a sketchily drawn piping diagram. I started to draw out my stand design then decided that I would just fly by the seat of my pants on that. It tends to work for me most of the time…
This is for the most part how I plan to plumb this sucker up and have all the fittings I need already. I am missing the heart of the system, more on that later. The sump design has changed, in my head at least, now the plan is for the equipment/skimmer on one side and fuge on the other with a central return section. Dimensions not thoroughly planned out yet.
Overflow box: I got a modular marine 1200g/hr box, overkill for the flow I plan to put through it but I wanted to have a larger surface area for surface skimming performance. Thanks again t RocketEngineer for explaining the benefits of better surface skimming even though I didn’t get a coast to coast or a horizontal weir design. I decided that it wasn't going to be worth my time for now…. Maybe when I get the 8’ tank the stand is designed for… The cat is out of the bag. The overflow is buried in this box I cant be bothered to to take it out for you guys just yet, I’ll drill the tank and install it right after the stand is done.
Skimmer: I acquired an Octo INT150 skimmer in what appears to be pretty good condition. My son was really excited about the new “Smoothie machine”. I let him have it for a few seconds before telling him ot was for the fish tank.
Return Pump: This is the next thing I will need open to suggestions DC and able to be ramped up, looking for something capable of 1500 GPH at 6’ of head. I have considered water blaster 7000, let me know what you guys think. (If you looked close enough at the “plumbing plans” you would notice there is a manifold on there and the mangrove/lagoon tank expansion.
Lights: I think I have decided to go with Reefi Uno 2.0 and when/if needed get some supplement strips for the front and back. Also considered Philips coralcare gen2 and a Quanta Helix light bar setup. At this point I am still open to suggestions.
Controller: I am thinking I will go with the Coralvue Hydros line of controllers at some point.
RODI: yeah I have one of those water saver 150gpd units from BRS with a booster pump. To my wife’s chagrin its in her laundry room and “Its hideous!” She can kick rocks, I got her 3 horses… JK…. about the kicking rocks part I love her, she’s amazing.
Oh and I have a 10g with some kind of designer clown on the kitchen counter and a 100g rubbermaid with sand and rock already cycled and ready to go. If you have stuck around reading this long run on sentence mess of a post then you deserve a star cause my wife says I’m autistic AF… She might be onto something but what do I know.
